In 2002 K’wan hit the scene with his debut novel and Essence bestseller Gangsta. In 2008 he received the Black Author of the year award for his collaboration with rapper 50 Cent on the book “Blow.” In 2011 Kwan won the African American Literary Award for Welfare Wifeys; and was also honored with the 2012 and 2013 Street Lit Book Award Medals (SLBAM) in adult fiction for Eviction Notice and Animal. K’Wan has been featured in: Vibe, King, Big News, The Library Journal, Entertainment Weekly, The New York Press, and Time Magazine; and he has made appearances on MTV and BET.
